I know a girl
I knew a girl all bubbly and sweet.
Wearing a dress and carrying a treat.
The innocence in her eyes sparkled as she walked,
Truthfulness showcased in every sentence she talked.
“A five year old with a mature thought”
Was the topic that family gatherings brought.
Her A’s in grade sheet made her a student bright
But growing into a teenager brought sad aspects of life in her sight.
The confident 5 year old was slowing turning into an introvert.
Her early teenage years were nothing like what the elders had assert.
She couldn’t understand if she was too young or old.
“This is the best phase of your life” she was always told.
Years passed by, she started growing into mid-teen,
Her life got tough and a sight of anxiety was seen.
She felt lost and alone,
Self-isolation felt like a comfort zone.
Until one day, a bright smile from her friend healed her.
Slowly she didn’t feel alone and had lost most of her fear.
I know a girl proud of herself
For not giving up, no matter what she felt.
She is an ambivert now with a goal in life.
With each day passing, giving her a feeling of thrive.
Her middle class life has taught her some adversities.
Seeing both her parents having to work so hard every day is what she pities.
She just wants happiness for them in the days to come
And a feeling of pride after seeing what their daughter has become.
Laziness is what is weakening her at present
But eventually, I hope procrastination will fade like her adolescent.
I wish to know a girl who has achieved her goal.
Who is a much more confident version of herself and bold.
Who is not an 11th grader anymore,
But holds a worthwhile degree for sure.
I hope she still likes to swim and read fictions
And didn’t forget about these hobbies while chasing her ambitions.
I wish her friendly and truthful nature is still there
And her life is busy but has some time to spare.
I know this girl because she is me.
She is who I was, what I am and what I want to be.
